Determining Mold And Mildew Problems May Begin With Identifying Mold Allergy Symptoms

There are mold and mold spores found year round inside and outside. How they effect a person may depend on the amount of mold in the air and how much a specific person may be able to withstand without showing symptoms. The mold allergy symptoms may include: runny nose, chronic coughing, sore throat, headaches, respiratory difficulties, rashes, and itchy and watery eyes. Even someone who doesn't normally have issues with allergies, may notice these symptoms if consistently exposed to high amounts of mold.

The mold allergy symptoms can be relieved by taking over the counter or prescription medications that are designed to help. Although those are only temporary fixes. Eliminating the problem altogether would be a better option. Indoors, it is easier to get rid of the problem than outdoors. Outside mold generally becomes a seasonal issue and allergy sufferers just have to dredge through the season with medications to make life easier. Indoors, the problems can be tackled through uses of dehumidifiers and cleaning surface areas to rid the inside environment of the offending fungi molecules  and those floating in the air.

A good dehumidifier used indoors that is suited to the size of the room can help immensely in keeping the relative humidity at a normal level which will hinder the growth of molds and mildew. Identifying the mold and mildew levels can be measured by doing some tests in the environment. Many times, the mold can be detected by smell. However, other types of mold and mildew may need a closer measurement to be identified. Testing kits can aptly help you find the amount of mold and mildew with which you are dealing.

A specific kind of mold which more often crops up, but is definitely not limited to in southern region homes is toxic black mold. This type of mold has contributed to strong allergy problems in children and adults alike. The mold allergy symptoms of this type of fungus are more severe than regular mold. Symptoms may include, nosebleeds, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, heart problems and even in extreme cases, death. This type of mold needs to be monitored and controlled in the environments in which it will most rear its ugliness. Testing is imperative if the symptoms begin to arise and action should be taken. Something as simple as changing a moist environment indoors into a drier environment may make all of the difference.
